Yesterday, I had the privilege of co-hosting a dynamic Repo Training session at Bloomberg, where we worked with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable group that included Sovereign Data engineers, data management specialists, and training managers. The session was highly interactive, with participants asking insightful questions and engaging in lively discussions about the complexities and opportunities within the repo markets.
We covered a range of key topics, including:
• Repo tensions in September 2019, the “Dash for Cash” and the Gilt LDI crisis.
• How and Why banks and hedge funds access the repo market and trading strategies, including basis trading.
• Emerging trends in repo.
• Legal agreements, initial and variation margin.
• Mandatory Clearing of US Treasuries.
The energy and curiosity in the room were truly inspiring, and I left feeling energised by the level of interest and engagement.
I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be back at Bloomberg in February for another session exclusively for Bloomberg staff. It’s always exciting to work with industry professionals who are keen to deepen their knowledge and challenge conventional thinking.
I encourage all who joined the training yesterday to connect with me on LinkedIn so we can keep the conversation going.
